Making an Ottoman at Union St

  • Union St 18-20 Union Street Sheffield, England, S1 2JR United Kingdom (map)

Back by popular demand! You all said I need to have another of these workshops, so here you go.

If you've never used a drill, this workshop will introduce you to the basic functions of a drill. You'll learn to make a pilot hole and how to choose the right screw for the job.

You'll take home a handcrafted ottoman with hidden storage.

Please bring 2 meters of fabric to personalise your ottoman. If you have experience upholstering and want to add tufts, feel free to bring buttons and other embellishments along.

The finished product will measure slightly larger than 50cm x 50cm and 30cm tall.

At this workshop, you can learn these techniques and skills:

  • The basics of using a drill

  • Sanding reclaimed wood

  • Installing hardware - hinges

  • Using a handsaw

  • Upholstery

  • Making pocket holes with the Kreg Jig System

This is a long workshop with a one hour break to rest your brain, feet and hands. We'll do all the woodwork in the first hour or two, have a break, and come back to finish the upholstery.
